The American Ethanol 200 race at the Iowa Speedway brought Ron Hornaday back to one of only a few tracks on the circuit he has yet
to win at. In addition, he's still looking to get new team owner Joe Denette his first win in the series. Although neither of those things happened, Ron came very close after spinning his
tires on the final restart of the race and finishing 2nd. The race was broadcast live on SpeedTV.
Hornaday started off the weekend very fast, with two very strong practice sessions. He then backed-up his efforts in practice by qualifying the truck eighth on the starting grid, which
accounted for the four-time champion's best start in four attempts at Iowa Speedway.
When the green flag turned the field loose for 200 miles of racing under the lights, Hornaday rocketed into the top-five by lap 10 and maintained a competitive pace inside the top-five for the
remainder of the event, eventually bringing the truck home 2nd.
